Inventory Controller

Reports to Store Manager

SUMMARY:

Responsible for day to day placement of orders, checking locating and receiving merchandise, posting sales and deliveries and assisting other stores and preparing transfers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
---Checks in all new merchandise, examining for condition
---Receives merchandise
---Enters purchase orders and credit memos into the system
---Processes daily reports
---Posts sales and deliveries in the system
---Places customers' order
---Locates needed merchandise for customers that is not in stock at Central Warehouse
---Assists other stores with their inventory and checks it personally for possible damage
---Prints labels for price and sold tags
---Checks stock status reports weekly
---Closes out month end
---Finalizes all sales and posts

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
---Maintains a chase drawer
---Completes terms on a charge sale
---Completes cash sale transactions
---Takes customer payments on accounts
---Answers the telephone, takes messages and pages
on intercom

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the ability to read and understand documents such as delivery paperwork and merchandise tickets. This person must have communication skills necessary to direct delivery warehouse personnel regarding inventory. This position requires an individual who is honest, reputable and has the ability and desire to service the customer in a highly efficient and professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. This position occasionally requires the employee to move or lift over 50 to 100 pounds. This person must be able to visually inspect merchandise and delivery documents.

This individual must be able to communicate with customers and explain delivery documents, accept payments, and comprehend and follow simple oral instructions from customers.
