BWXT is currently seeking a Systems Engineering & Integration
(SE&I) Lead for its Advanced Technologies location!
BWXT is People Strong, Innovation Driven - be part of BWXT's
innovation hub. BWXT's Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches,
designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear
rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for
both internal and external customers.
The SE&I project lead will lead the nuclear reactor Systems
Engineering and Integration Product Team (IPT) for a space reactor
program. The IPT manages the complexity of development and design
aspects of the program including mitigation of interoperability
risks, technical issue tracking, and technical issue
resolution.

Job Description / Duties:
Perform interface definition and manage execution of integration
and test activities.
Develop and maintain requirements and specifications.
Ensure appropriate engineering rigor is applied to the design and
development of the reactor.
Support design and other reviews.
Develop and maintain the program's Master Test and Evaluation Plan
to include end-to-end and interface verification planning.
Lead identification and engineering oversight of Risk Reduction
activities.
Work collaboratively with and across technical teams to ensure
appropriate test procedures are established.
Assess options for test equipment, hardware, software and
facilities for streamlined yet robust approaches to ensure the
deployed system will perform its designed mission objectives.
Ensure test activities are properly represented and tracked in
program plans and schedules.
Observe and/or participate in systems/segment integration, V&V
planning and execution and examine test results to define
successful performance and/or develop plans for corrective actions
and re-testing.
Participate in design reviews and control gates to assess viability
of verification and validation plans, including testability.
Work with the Systems Engineering Manager to develop and grow the
Systems Engineering organization.
Mentor and train junior level employees in Systems Engineering Lead
responsibilities.
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
A minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience as a systems engineer
or combination of systems engineering and project management
experience is required.
At least five (5) years' relevant prior supervisory or technical
leadership experience is required.
Must have prior experience leading development and systems
integration activities.
Must have prior experience ensuring the physical and functional
compatibility of sophisticated systems throughout the full
lifecycle of the program is required.
Must have demonstrable experience interacting with system/segment
developers and engineers to ensure mission requirements are
satisfied.
Must have excellent organization and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence within matrixed
organizations is required.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills are
required.
Must have confident and articulate professional speaking skills
with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in understanding hardware/software design, requirements
generation, product development, test execution, and verification
activities is required.
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills are required.
Proven track record of good judgment and programmatic execution to
meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget
obligations is required.
Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy
(DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever
is required.
Additional Desired Skillsets:
PMP Certification.
Experience with DOORS.
Nuclear design experience.
Experience working in a unit-level qualification, test, and
requirements verification environment; including
subcontractors.
Experience with Hardware in the Loop Testing.
Prior experience leading agile teams.
Experience working with U.S. Government customer (e.g., NASA, DOD,
DOE).
