OrthoVirginia, Virginia's largest provider of expert orthopedic and therapy care, is currently seeking a full-time, Patient Access Operator to join our team! Position Summary Greet each caller with compassion and kindness. Connect callers to the appropriate individuals. Page or call providers as needed. Primary Functions & Accountabilities Greet all callers in a prompt, pleasant and compassionate tone. Appropriately handle and route each call. Check and disperse online appointment requests appropriately. Check and schedule Physician Referral appointments appropriately. Obtain all pertinent information when scheduling appointments to include, but not limited to: correct spelling of patients' full name, date of birth, social security number, telephone numbers, address, complaint or reason for appointment, imaging studies obtained, referring physician, emergency contacts and insurance plan. Explain in detail office insurance and financial policies as appropriate. Contact patients to reschedule appointments as needed. Communicate with providers, Clinical Team Members, Registration Coordinators, Referral Specialists and other support staff as needed. Communicate with the local hospital and alert MD's/APP's for pages and consults. Check and disperse faxes appropriately. Appropriately fill out DMV forms. Fill in for other Patient Access Coordinators during lunch or absences as needed. Schedule appointments per provider protocol on assigned Team as needed. Complete missing items from records prior to patients' visits. Assist with projects as directed by the Patient Access Manager, Operations Supervisors and Director of Operations. Ensure supplies are stocked for call center department. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient computer skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to coordinate multiple tasks Proficient interpersonal skills Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, payers and team members Strong desire to work with the public Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment Position Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some medical office or call center experience preferred.
