Job Description:

The L3Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional team responsible for designing and manufacturing leading edge communications products for public safety and government customers. This individual will work in a team environment to manage development of hardware solutions in a geographically diverse organization while providing on-scene engineering leadership in Lynchburg, VA.

The responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the local Public Safety Site HW engineering team in Lynchburg, VA as part of a geographically diverse, cross-functional hardware development organization.
  • Leading high profile hardware development projects.
  • Leading initiatives to improve team productivity, development cycle time, quality, product unit cost, and other efficiency improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum 12 years of relevant experience in product development and/or managing engineering teams (or a graduate degree with 10 years of experience)

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Management and leadership background with experience leading full lifecycle product developments, executing performance appraisals, managing staffing allocation, Project Engineering, process leadership, and career development.
  • Experience with Land Mobile Radio and other communications technologies.
  • Strong technical understanding and experience leading organizational behaviors to ensure quality.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or strong working knowledge of project management practices.
  • Six Sigma training or strong working knowledge.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
