The Mechanical Engineer will be part of a diverse and multi-discipline team working on a variety of projects including next generation reactor design, reactor component/equipment development, medical isotopes, and advanced manufacturing technology development. This role is a multi-functioning, multi-faceted role requiring an individual with a wide range of capabilities. Job Description/Duties: + Provide technical leadership and oversight on project/task specific work including delegating, reviewing, and self-performing activities. + Perform project engineering tasks including customer/vendor interface, scheduling, creating purchase requisitions, and creating work authorizations. + Create design models and detailed drawings using 3D CAD (ex. SolidWorks) software and other design methods. + Perform engineering calculations in support of design/modeling activities. + Perform assembly, testing and inspection of mechanical components and systems. + Perform project engineering activities (task plans, schedules, etc.). + Specify procurement requirements for mechanical components. + Prepare packages of drawings and associated documentation in accordance with approved standards, policies and procedures. + Prepare procurement packages to send to manufacturing. + Review engineering drawings for correctness, tolerances and manufacturability. + Work closely with engineering, purchasing, production, and other teams to ensure design work meets requirements. + Work with data management tools to organize and manage project data. + Evaluate and suggest improvements to product designs and design/drafting processes. + Evaluate and suggest improvements to quality related processes as it relates to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance programs and design/drafting activities. + Work in a team environment, but have the ability to work independently. Job Qualifications/Requirements: + A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. + A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in design engineering is required. + Must be knowledgable with 3D CAD systems and design engineering techniques relative to the development of complex parts, assemblies, and systems. + Must be able to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely written and verbal communication. + Must have hands on experience and ability to work in a shop environment. + Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers. + Must possess the ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes and tools. + Must have an understanding of design control and configuration control concepts. + A general knowledge of manufacturing processes including product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials is required. + A general knowledge of project engineering activities (task plans, schedules, etc.) is required. + Must be able to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations. + Must be proficient in SolidWorks. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. + Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship. + Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required. + Travel (
