an IT System Administrator for its Lynchburg, VA -location! The
responsibilities of the Systems Administrator include the design,
implementation, and troubleshooting of information systems and
technology solutions in support of the various BWXT business units.
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to support of
datacenter operations such as server, network, and storage hardware
and the various associated management platforms. A successful
candidate will need the ability to troubleshoot complex problems
and work under stressful conditions. The job requires the ability
to work collaboratively with customers and business users during
the course of daily support and on complex projects. As necessary,
this position requires availability after working hours to handle
critical issues. The person in this position will also be required
to remain current with new technology developments and trends and
continue to grow their skills to leverage these new advances. Job
Description/Duties:
- Implements, documents & supports the Data Center operations on
a daily basis as a core responsibility
- Designs, maintains and monitors datacenter backups for all
servers and SANs
- Support air gapped network with increased security requirements
such as DISA STIGs
- Administers and supports all critical production
applications
- Supports Active Directory/DNS/Group Policy/Exchange & terminal
server system
- Implements and manages SANs
- Setups, administers, and supports various virtualization
platforms (VMWare, Microsoft, Linux)
- Participates in implementing system security patches and
software/firmware/system upgrades to maintain security
compliance
- Assists desktop engineers as needed with advanced
troubleshooting and workload on occasion
- Participates in continuous process improvement activities,
making recommendations whenever possible. Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field and a
minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, or, a minimum of
four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy
(DOE) clearance. Additional Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of Active Directory, VMWare
hypervisors and management systems
- Must have in-depth experience with various physical server and
virtual backup and recovery solutions and in-depth knowledge of
Windows Server operating systems
- Experience with storage area networks, VSAN and administration
and support of Data Center Infrastructure Operations
- Must possess demonstrable experience with solving practical
problems and carrying out responsibilities under general
supervision.
- Must be able to organize workload for effective implementation,
have a strong customer and results orientation with the ability to
function as an effective team member
- Must be able to adapt as the external environment and
organization evolves Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
The IT System Administrator will work a 9/80 work week while
receiving market leading pay, paid time off, paid winter holiday
