Registered Nurse -(RN) Lead Nurse Crisis Stabilization - ($5,000 HIRING BONUS)

The Lead RN of Horizon's Crisis Stabilization is responsible for the overall coverage/medical care and supervision of a 16 bed Crisis Stabilization unit serving clients throughout the Central VA area and providing supervision and guidance to staff. The Lead Nurse will ensure all nursing services and medication management are in compliance with prescribed treatment, applicable regulations and best practices. Position requires knowledge of mental health practices and nursing practices. Must be willing to work flexible schedules as needed. Requires BSN and three years of RN experience, preferably with at least a year of experience in a mental health setting and a year of supervisory experience.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in psychiatric nursing (preferred).
Minimum of 3 Years of nursing experience as a registered nurse and one year of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual's treatment and access to community resources.
Knowledge of nursing best practices.
Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, physical health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse.
Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
Skill to administer medications as prescribed.
Skill to analyze situations accurately and develop appropriate responses or techniques.
Skill to communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Skill to perform medical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans and referrals.
Ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships.
Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among co-workers and representatives in the community.
Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites;
Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
$40,000 - $68,000/year DOE Premium pay for nights and weekends!
