registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN
experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. Deliver advanced patient
care as a Stepdown RN specializing in progressive care for cardiac,
vascular, surgical, renal, respiratory, and sepsis patients. This
contract position invites skilled nurses to work in a 21-bed
PCU/Stepdown unit, managing complex cases including cardiac drips,
BiPAP, insulin drips, and stable tracheostomies. Candidates must
demonstrate proficiency in lab draws, IV starts, and pass an EKG
exam at orientation. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Current
RN license in the practicing state or compact license required
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) required Minimum 1 year of
RN experience; 6 months in acute care hospital setting preferred
Competency with cardiac drips, bedside monitoring, and respiratory
support Critical thinking and solid clinical judgment Strong
communication and teamwork skills Proficient with electronic health
records (training preferred) Ability to handle high stress and
workload fluctuations calmly Responsibilities: Conduct
comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care
plans Administer medications safely and monitor treatment
effectiveness Coordinate care across departments and communicate
with patients families Maintain patient safety by participating in
quality improvement initiatives Manage complex patient conditions,
including multi-system organ failure Serve as a resource and mentor
for nursing staff Respond adaptively to changing patient needs and
emergencies Schedule & Location: Four 12-hour night shifts per
week; alternating weekends and major holidays Richmond, VA area
(Note: local candidates living within a 50-mile radius are not
