The Chief Information Officer’s role is to provide vision and leadership for the company’s information technology and systems. The span of control supports both commercial and government-related businesses located at multiple sites in North America. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) has responsibility for driving information technology strategy and development and implementation of initiatives aligning with strategic direction of the company. The CIO is responsible for protecting all information assets according to industry best practices and customer requirements, improving cost effectiveness, enhancing service quality, and cultivating business development. Job Description/Duties: Align information technology initiatives to the strategic initiatives of the business through continuous engagement with key stakeholders throughout the company. Oversee governance processes with stakeholders to solicit and prioritize business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives. Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization. Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources. Communicate effectively with all levels of the company including Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors. Lead IT support of business acquisition due diligence and integration activities. Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business. Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures. Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments. Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets. Ensure appropriate cyber security controls are in place to protect the information assets while meeting all regulatory compliance requirements. Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue cost reductions through rightsizing contracts, additional negotiation, and master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale. Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems. Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users, monitoring of IT systems performance, and promoting disaster recovery/business continuity initiatives. Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact. Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations. Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies. Job Qualifications/Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or business administration is required. US Citizenship with no dual citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q-level clearance. A minimum of 10 years of experience managing and/or directing an IT operation is required. A minimum of 10 years of experience working in the manufacturing industry required. Nuclear or Department of Energy industry experience highly desirable. Experience in strategic planning and execution of a multi-site business. Successful management of an IT organization or division with a budget greater than $25m and more than 100 IT resources. Knowledge of current technology trends and the ability to apply them to unique environments with various layers of constraints. Substantial exposure to customer support, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, integration capabilities, and cyber security practices. Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management. Ability to leverage a data and metrics to drive and support decision making. In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT. Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures. US Citizenship, with no dual citizenship is required for this position.
