The Safety Manger (SM) is responsible for managing the safety
within the 3 facilities The SM is a critical member of the company
in regards to keeping our employees safe. The SM must be a vocal,
aggressive and progressive leader that works with the other team
members within the company to create a universal safety culture.
The SM reports to the COO. He is to provide daily reports outlining
activities, concerns, etc. within the plants. He has the right and
the responsibility to stop all acts that are un-safe or in
violation of local, state, or federal laws. Also responsible to
maintain all EPA and DEQ records and dispose of all hazardous
materials properly. It is critical that the safety manager
understands the impacts of accidents, worker compensation claims,
violations etc. to the company's image and the overall well-being
of the company.ResponsibilitiesSafety First - The SM will lead by
example and enforce all company policies to insure the overall
safety of the individual employees. Critical areas are housekeeping
(6S), continual safety training, and understanding all OSHA
requirements. Must do a daily walk through of each plant and
provide daily reports. Meet with each plant manager daily to
discuss open issues or check on concerns.Key Specific
Responsibilities (not all inclusive) - Maintain and enforce the
company safety manual. Maintain all required documentation. - All
employees must wear proper PPE and follow all safety guidelines. SM
is to regulate and enforce the policies at all times. - Must be
knowledgeable and up to date on all OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations.
- Maintain all EPA and DEQ records. Responsible for disposal of all
hazardous materials and training of the employees related to
handling of hazardous wastes. - Provide Safety Training for all new
Employees. - Provide continual training of all plant employees. -
Hold weekly safety meetings. - Track all incidents and maintain the
OSHA log. - Investigate all safety incidents and provide the
findings to management within 1 week of the incident. - Do daily
walkthroughs of the plants in Lynchburg and provide daily reports.
- Communicate with the Florida plant weekly. - Manage the safety
staff and designated employees so that we have coverage at all
times when employees are working. - Work with maintenance to insure
we have a proper preventive maintenance program on our
