(BWXT) is a leading supplier of nuclear components and fuel to the U.S. government; provides technical, management and site services to support governments in the operation of complex facilities and environmental restoration activities; and supplies precision manufactured components, services and CANDU - fuel for the commercial nuclear power industry.Responsible for supporting the Nuclear Materials Engineering (NME) group at the Lynchburg Technology Center. This group is one of 4 discrete laboratory operations within LTC, namely, Nuclear materials Engineering (NME), Radioisotope & Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (RACL), Nondestructive Evaluation & Inspection Systems (NDE&IS), and Metallurgical Laboratory (MET). Relocation benefits are available for this position.Job Description / Duties: Facilitate implementation of a prototypic fuel manufacturing process. Assume point of contact responsibility for assigned processing areas. Assist in generation and revision of area operating procedures (AOPs) and technical procedures (TPs) for the assigned processing areas. Generate and present status/efficiency reports for the fabrication process. Interpret technical requirements provided by the program to support engineering decisions. Track product metrics and flag negative trends. Provide assistance with analyzing and resolving manufacturing issues. Develop engineered solutions for production component processing needs.Job Qualificiations / Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. A minimum of four (4) years of work experience in an engineering related field is required. Must have previous experience with project controls (i.e., tracking & trending, scheduling, forecasting). Must be self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail. Strong commitment to safety culture and willingness to ensure compliance to all codes and standards is required. Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citivenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.Additional Desired Skillsets: Previous experience with manufacturing and/or production processes - ball milling, debinding, additive manufacturing, sintering. Experience working in a radiologically controlled environment. Experience operating in an environment that handles special nuclear material (SNM). Familiarity with laboratory methods and interpretation of results. Experience with dimensional inspection techniques and/or familiarity with interpretation of dimensional data -optical comparator and/or CNC machines. Familiarity with imaging equipment - digital camera and/or microscope imaging. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and project management applications.
