Our programs cover everything from financial education to foster care, from early childhood resources to services for adults with developmental disabilities.LIFEGUARD POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency. This employee is responsible for the daily operation of the pool, informing swimmers of pool rules, greeting guests at the pool and for adhering to safety procedures as set forth in pool guidelines. Most tasks consist of routine pre-established procedures, but this is also a highly skilled position in the field of water safety and the employee must be able to respond to emergency situations. LIFEGUARD DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service. Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports.Open pool during assigned hours, following all safety procedures.Ensure all pool participants follow pool rules.Perform routine pool maintenance, including cleaning up articles left at the pool.Communicate with Staff and/or Administrators any pool problems which warrant their attention.Assist with grounds upkeep as requested. LIFEGUARD KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:Thorough understanding of emergency care protocols and procedures.Ability to perform emergency care.Ability to recognize safety concerns.Ability to use sound judgement and critical thinking to respond to potentially dangerous or emergent situations.Ability to deal effectively with the public; have skill in dealing informally with participants of all age groups; and have ability to get along well with others. LIFEGUARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 15 years of age.Must have reliable transportation.6 months to 1 year of lifeguarding experience preferred.Current Lifeguard Certification.Current CPR/AED/First Aid CertificationComplete all required background checks and pass drug test.
